John 17:13 (KJV)

And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

Jesus prayed for the disciples to be filled with joy not to be filled with happiness. Jesus new that no matter what the circumstance was the disciples needed to feel the joy of the lord. Even in their darkest hour this joy would fill their hearts.

Through out the New Testament this truth is presented and as Christians we need to remember this great truth. It is difficult to realize we can find joy in any circumstance as long as we walk close to the Lord. The closer we walk the greater the joy will be in our hearts.

Dear Lord:

Keep each of us as you kept your disciples allowing us to feel the love and deep abiding joy in our hearts. So that no matter what the circumstances are we can be a true witness for you.

In Jesus name I pray amen.
