John 17:9 (KJV)
I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Here Jesus is praying for the disciples specifically. Jesus is praying the ones God has given him. Later he will pray for the world but for now he only prays for the ones put in his care.
As Christians we can learn from this example. Each of us has specific people placed in our lives that we need to pray for and to support spiritually. At different times these individuals will change but there always seems to be a very small group that remains constant. This is the group god has given us sometimes we lead and teach other times we follow and learn. This special group always needs to be remembered in prayer as Jesus remembered his disciples.
Surround me with a close group of friends that I may be to teach and lead or learn from and follow. Make this a fluid relationship so each of us will be able to glorify you.
In Jesus name I pray Amen.
