“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8.1-2 ESV)

When we are in Christ as born-again Christians, we are free from condemnation because we were freed from our slavery to the law of sin and death.  Sin is no longer our master and whatever happened while we were in slavery to sin can no longer be used against us.  That is the power of God’s grace.

Guilt from the past may sometimes be crippling to some Christians, but it need not be so.  If we are saved by Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross, our sin has been bought and paid for.  We have only to walk with Christ, led by the Spirit.  We no longer have to wallow in our past sin.  Quite frankly, we may still suffer the consequences of the past sin, but the sin was forgiven and will not be used to condemn us before God- and what else matters?

We can look at our lives in one of two ways: we can be burdened with guilt over our past sins or we can rejoice that God freed us from those sins and gave us new life in Christ.

Rejoice today in all that God has freed you from since receiving Christ and praise Him for the work He is doing in your life at this point as well!
