“If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name,” Says the Lord of hosts, “I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, because you do not take it to heart.”
What does all this mean? Those are very strong words and it takes the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to help us grasp the depth of it all. When this came to my mind about how the blessings of God flow, it led me to think about what prevents God from blessing His children. There are so many ways to stop the flow and restrict His hand from blessing us. Often when we go to Him for a particular need and the provision does not come, we wonder, why?
We must first examine our hearts. Is there anything within it that displeases the Father? With humility of heart we go to Him with our question, WHY Lord? As we yield our hearts and spirit to listen to the Holy Spirit, He will speak to our hearts and convict us of the sin that stands in the way of receiving God’s blessing for our need.
So often it can be because we have not thanked Him for all that we have already received, disobedience, judging others, and most of all, have we been alone with Him in worship with praise and thanksgiving recently? There is a multitude of reasons, but when we confess these sins and ask for His forgiveness, we receive it and are restored again into His favor.
This is a very simple analogy, but as parents do we bless our children when they are out of our will and purpose for them? Do we restrict them because we love them less, NO, but because we love them more and want their lives to be as God wants them to be. It is the same with us, God’s children, He withholds our blessings for our good and to bring us back into His will and purpose, which is always GOOD!!
That brings me to this final point, tithing. Unless we are obedient in this, the curse will come. Nothing in the house will function right and need repairs. The car breaks down, a need for medical attention, many things that allow the curse to fall on our lives. Unless we are obedient in our tithing, we will lose it one way or the other, we have all experienced this. It isn’t until the light comes on in our hearts and we become obedient to His will and purpose, that the blessings will again FLOW!! It is our behavior that restricts God’s hand from blessing our lives! May this be our resolution to practice every moment of every day as we walk with Him!
“Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever.”
