My Companion

In the evening when I am out walking, I see people walking their dogs, couples walking together and as I walk by one of the homes, I see the cat (who apparently thinks he is a dog)that takes walks with his owner, sits by him when he sits on the porch and even sits by his feet while his master chats with someone along the way. I must admit I feel a little envious wishing I had a faithful companion to walk with me.

Wait!…… I do! I do! He’s always there with me wherever I go! I am reminded of the song “In the Garden………He walks with me and he talks with me.”

My step is a little lighter and my heart picks up the beat. I greet my fellow walkers with a wide smile and a cheery “Good Evening.”

Now on my evening walks, I sing songs of praise as I walk along knowing I am not alone. I have a faithful friend that would never let me be alone because He wants to walk with me in sweet, loving  fellowship. Thank you, Jesus.

Psalm 139:5-10 “You hem me in……….you have laid your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?

Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,

even there your hand will guide me, your hand will hold me fast.”

  1. This is a great one, Elaine. I try to remember this, but I often forget. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. Elaine, you are so right! When we acknowledge the presence of Jesus as we walk and talk with Him, my what a blessing He bestows upon us. He is always waiting for us to recognize His presence and to thank Him for it. Praise and worship to Him takes us there!
    Thank you!
