“Let the dead bury the dead.”

When Jesus began his ministry by calling the men who would be his disciples, we see in them an unquestioning obedience. Jesus said to Simon Peter and his brother Andrew and then to James and John “Come follow me” and they left all they were doing and followed him. At one point, one said, “Lord first let me go and bury my father.” but Jesus said, ‘Follow me and let the dead bury the dead.” Another wanted to say goodbye to his family but Jesus said you cannot look back and enter the Kingdom of God.

We cannot allow ourselves to be distracted or to find excuses why we cannot be obedient when God calls us. We say we are too tired, too busy, wrong time or we have nothing to offer. The disciples dropped everything and followed Jesus. We must concentrate  on growing spiritually so that we can know and follow God’s will.
