I Peter 1:15-16 â€œBut just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written â€˜Be holy, because I am holy.â€™â€
Holy in the dictionary means worthy of absolute devotion, sacred, having a divine quality.Â To be sanctified and consecrated also define this word.Â
If we are lacking this spiritual vitamin, we may find ourselves at odds with others, having lack of direction, not being able to stand up for truth and conviction and possibly contaminated speech and lifestyle.Â
To be holy is to be consecrated to God, set apart for His purpose in absolute devotion to the Lord Jesus.Â To know Him and enjoy Him forever is the Westminster confession.Â Â This God who so loved us that He gave His only Son that we might have eternal life with Him forever wants to live in and through us to accomplish His purposes.Â This marvelous God has asked us to be holy as He is.Â To be dedicated in devotion to Him and His will.Â 2 Timothy says we are called to a holy life not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace.Â To be holy, to be different from the world, and to be sanctified and dedicated to God for His will to be done is what this spiritual vitamin will do for us.
Temptations are so great all around us but then we remember that Jesus was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin.Â Read the temptation of Jesus in Luke 4:1-13.Â His temptation is the same as ours.Â Temptations fall into the three categories mentioned in I John which is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of lifeÂ He does understand our difficulties and there is victory.Â There is victory in Jesus to live a holy life.Â Letâ€™s take this vitamin today and every day.
