“Be A Witness”

Acts 1:8 says,”But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

What are we to witness about.  When we are called to court to be a witness, we are to tell the truth of what we saw, heard or absolutely know about.  So, what are we to witness about?  This command is to the disciples and to us.  They witnessed the life,  trial, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.  We too know about this from the Word of God.  This certainly gives us an idea of what we are to witness about.  But how do we do that.  The answer is in the first part of this verse.  We will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us.  So, when we believe and receive Jesus’ perfect sacrifice and payment for all our sin, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell us.  The verse says when the Holy Spirit is come we will receive power, His power, to accomplish this task of witnessing.   We have the message and the knowledge of what Christ has done for us and that is what we are to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help us God to everyone we can.  Just tell them what Jesus did for you.  He saved us from the penalty of sin and gave us eternal life.  What a wonderful message.

So, let’s take our spiritual vitamin of “Be” a Witness and allow GOD to use us to witness about Jesus just as the disciples did.  It will take humbling, yielding and allowing God the Holy Spirit to tell others through us how they too can know Him as their Savior from the judgment of sin.

Open my mouth and let me speak

                                          Lovingly, starting at home

The message of Jesus and then to all

                                         No matter where they roam.
