PSALM 119:11: “Your Word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
I have a friend who is usually prompt, or even early, for meetings. Sometime ago, he was late for our Saturday morning Prayer Breakfast. With some embarrassment , he explained that on his way to meet with us, he came to a “rolling stop” at a stop sign. Guess who was observing him? The policeman pulled him over.
The officer gave him a ticket for not coming to a “full and complete” stop. He was going to have to pay a fine but the officer said he could avoid having “points” on his driver’s license by taking a test. If he studied a Drivers Manual and passed the test confirming that he knew the laws of the road, he would not acquire the points on his license.
That story caused me to wonder how well we know God’s instruction manual containing His laws? More important, how well do we follow the laws of God’s highway? Are we rolling through the stop signs that God’s Word tells us about? Are we following the “one way” sign that Jesus tell us about in John 14:6 where He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”.
Do we love Him fully and completely? In John 14:15, Jesus says, “If you love Me, keep my commandments”. We can’t obey God’s laws unless we know those laws. God doesn’t want us to be ignorant of His laws and commandments. He has given us His Holy Word to show us how to live to reach eternal life.
Read the manual and follow the way to God’s eternity.
Lord Jesus, may I daily read and keep your Word in my heart so I won’t sin. I want to keep your Word and show my love for you. Amen.
