ABIDE IN GODS LOVE – SERVE HIM

If we love, we give of ourselves.  We give to our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Sometimes we think only of the tithes and offerings as what we are called to do.

I John 4:16 ,21 says: ”And we know and believe the love that God has for us.  God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.  And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Surely, this applies to both brothers and sisters in our family and to those in our church family.  In another devotional, I remarked on how we might learn from the traits of our staff.  Consider the gift of service by many of our fellow church members!

New Hope is blessed with volunteers who assist our staff by answering phones and doing other “secretarial” duties. Consider how we can listen again to a sermon (and perhaps share it with someone) because of Don and the Audio/Visual staff.  Think of the Wednesday evening meals with  salad bar and desserts from Nancy and her volunteers.

Then there are the many department heads and workers, the deacons, the trustees, the Sunday School teachers, the ushers, the nursery and Tot Church workers, and all those who just see that something needs to be done and they do it.

We don’t always think to say, “Thank You”.  But, God sees it and recognizes these acts of love shown to brothers and sisters.  These are truly gifts to God!

Possibly we missed you, and I am certain we don’t really know all any of you do.  That’s okay.  Be comforted by Matthew 6:3-4: “But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly”.

Prayer:  God, thank you that I can abide in Your love and You will abide in me.   Amen
