Life of Maturity

“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”

1 Corinthians 13:11

I hope we are growing in our knowledge of the working of the Holy Spirit, although there is much to learn and experience, maturity begins to take place in our hearts and life as we yield to His Spirit.  God wants each child of His to experience the leading of the Spirit every day. As we yield our hearts to Him we become teachable, this is our first step in faith to believe He will do all that He says He will do.

We are to begin the path of following the Spirit’s leading by believing, not only that He is within us, but that He will undertake what we ask and trust Him to do. Here again, faith is the pre-requisite for believing it will happen as we have asked. We must believe with confidence that God’s acceptance of our surrender means that the Spirit is in control and He will guide our lives.

There is much need to spend time reading God’s Word because this is where true knowledge begins and then wisdom comes through the leading of His Spirit and the experiences He takes us through to mold and make us in the image of Jesus.  This molding surely doesn’t happen overnight, it is a long process that He guides us through by circumstances in life.  Many times “self” will create these circumstances but the Spirit uses these for our growth and maturity. Giving up everything to God and letting Him have His way, I am finding, will help to simplify our struggles!

“Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature.”

1 Corinthians 14:20
