Life in the Spirit

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father!”

Galatians 4:6

The previous devotions were an overview of what is to come as God leads us into His truths.  I am sharing this from a very simple heart, uneducated but with a heart that is filled with a hunger to learn all that He has for me.  As I write this I am dependent upon the work of Jesus, “The True Vine” to speak through me “The Branch” to bring His message to us. We will share more about the Vine in upcoming devotions.

I am learning much about how the Spirit gives life as we yield to His working. His work in the believer, is transforming us into the image of Jesus, this takes time, the surrendering of our will and yielding our spirit unto Him.  Can we imagine the work that has to be accomplished to make us all God wants us to be? It is taking Him my lifetime because of rebellion to have it my way.  Are we guilty of that? This is the prime reason we grow so slowly in our faith, understanding and knowledge of God’s Word. Our lack of time spent alone with Jesus and prayer are obstacles we can overcome.

When we come to realize our total inability to achieve God’s purpose in our own strength, then we understand it is the power of the Holy Spirit living within us who can and will accomplish God’s will and purpose in our lives. What peace and rest we can have when we accept this and just allow Him to do what is needed. I am slowly learning this and what joy I am finding in it!  There is a life of fulfillment in the Spirit, search for it with me!

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.”

1 Peter 3:18

  1. The amazing thing is that a lot of the time we don’t even realize that we are being rebellious. We tend to allow ourselves to “accept” things as “just the way it is today”. But God does show us the error of our thinking and rebellion when we allow Him. How refreshing it is, though, when we face His truth and embrace the changes that He will make in us when we allow Him. You also made an important point about how we tend to waste a lot of our life running from Him. But because He is such an awesome, loving God, He never gives up on us! Thank you for sharing your heart with us.
