“If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?”
1 John 4:20
Do we really love Jesus is a very serious question? To answer this question we have to dig deeply within our hearts, far below our emotions, to the core of our soul. Just believing in Jesus is not real love of Him. It takes much more to begin to know His heart and experience His mighty love for us. Our love for Him grows as we spend much time with Jesus, away from all distractions, just He alone with our undivided attention.
We have many acquaintances in our lives but very few “real friends” those that know our hearts and are committed no matter the sacrifices that may come. How do we achieve this relationship? TIME, is the essence! Are we willing to give our all to this friend? Yes, it requires our love, patience, understanding, compassion and giving when we don’t feel like giving. Much is required!
It is the same in our relationship with Jesus, so do we really love Him? As I am learning how to love Jesus I am finding the more time I spend with Him, the closer I want to be, to really know His very heart. When we are willing to give Him our time, He gives us a thirst to know Him more. We know that without this deep relationship with Jesus, His love will not flow through our lives expressing His love to those we come in contact with daily and if we truly love Him we will obey Him! Do we value our relationship with Jesus; is He first in our lives?
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”
John 15:13, 15
