Be Still and Know that He is God

“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”

Psalm 46:10

          Do we find it difficult to be still…………………..this is the first step in waiting upon God? Yes, we find it very hard to shut out the things that are happening all around us!  Then, it’s our faith that must take hold and, KNOW that He is GOD!

These are two major lessons I’ve found that require much prayer and alone time with Jesus! This is when we realize just how short our patience is, for waiting is not one of our fleshly virtues, much to our regret, but patience does come, slowly, as our faith matures.

          So often we pray for God’s will to take place in our lives, one basic problem though is that it requires waiting for the answer or direction, the one thing we most hate is waiting, so we wander off in our own wisdom and ultimately realize it was not the right decision!  It takes much faith, time and patience to wait upon God, but His response is always the perfect answer, Waiting on God is a process of growth taking place through experiences that have ended in disappointment and many times tragedies.  God did not reveal all His will to Jesus at once, but day by day, according to the circumstance of the hour and He will not do differently with us. Wholehearted obedience in waiting is the power that will carry us through.

          One other requirement I’ve found in waiting is humility. This is the realization that nothing is possible in our lives as Christians without the almighty presence and power of the Holy Spirit that lives within.  We so readily think we can accomplish God’s will and purpose in our own wisdom and strength, this is a myth the devil uses to defeat us and we lose the victory in our lives.  So, shall we be wise and wait upon God for the definitive results in our daily walk with Him? He is God and He is the answer, let’s wait upon Him!

“ But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary; They shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

  1. Thank you for writing the devotions this month. I love His invitation to sit at His feet & soak in who He is. It’s so easy to go our own way at times, but we’re so blessed when we learn to wait on Him, get His perspective — then follow obediently.

    Milt & I so appreciate your prayers for us!

    1. Ruby, I so appreciate your comment to the devotion and God is blessing me with great responses, not on this site but personally. I felt led to send to many that do not do email and many that do because they tell me they forget to go to the website and receiving them via their email is much better for them, so have been sending out close to 60 each week, one a week until completed., and God is blessing. It was so good to be in the Bible Study this morning. Also, you and Milt are prayer priorities and I know God is working in your behalf. Thanks again! Love, Margaret
