Book of James – Day 10

James 3:9-12 (KJV)    “Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.”

How as Christians can we speak one way on Sunday morning and speak a different way the rest of the week? James brings out an very good point we cannot bless God at one point and in the next curse man who is made in God’s image.

Often as supposedly good Christians will worship and praise God on Sunday morning. On Sunday afternoon it is off to the sports bar to rant and rave using some of the most colorful langue that would make a sailor blush.

More importantly is the fact we sit and listen to such langue and never say a word. Especially when someone is spreading malicious gossip by listening and not saying anything we might as well say it ourselves.

So as Christians can we remove ourselves from these situation choosing not to speak or listen to gossip. Attempting not to curse or use bad langue. Setting ourselves as examples the rest of the world can follow.
