“Trust and Obey”

How do we love a perfect and mighty God when we cannot even compare to His greatness?  How are we to feel confident in our love towards God?  Will our love even be worthy of Him?  Is it worth trying?  Jesus tells us how we should love this great and mighty God, in the book of John.  Jesus describes love as this, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”(John 14:15 ESV)

What Jesus is describing here is not just a feeling, but a choice and the action to prove it.  Love is not something we can do while sitting on the couch eating chips and watching the game.  Doing this takes all of our heart, soul and mind.  When was the last time your prayer life wore you out?  When was the last time you poured out your heart to God so much that it left you tired and teared out?  When was the last time you gave so much energy into a worship service that it felt like you just left the gym?  If our prayer lives and worship are not looking like this, I have to question do we really love the Lord?  How much of our lives are we devoting to God?

Remember the words of the Hymn, “Trust and Obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”  If you want to feel content and happy in your faith you must obey the Lord.

Today renew your commitment to the Lord.  Ask him what you can do for him today.
