“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Romans 1:16
I think one of the reasons people struggle so much with each other in the church is what I call the Sin Dilemma. What I mean by the sin dilemma is we do not know how to address sin and our salvation. Yes we have the people that believe in once saved always saved, but live as if they are works based. I have been a Southern Baptist for years and I have seen many people believe in Eternal Security struggle to explain this wonderful truth. There seems to be confusion between how much responsibility is on us and how much is God’s job. It amazes me at the amount of people who place their trust in Jesus for salvation but the trust stops there.
I believe it is the power of God for salvation. Man has nothing to do with it except accept the gift. God calls us, he saves us and he commissions us. There is nothing that man can do to save Himself or commission himself. So if it is God who saves us and sends us then there is no way we can take the glory for any part of the process. It is all God and nothing of man. If we realize just how much God loves us and wants us to serve with Him our Sin Dilemma starts to disappear. We start placing our eyes on eternal goals and our temporal worries start to fade.
