“Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.” Ezekiel 37:11
Recently at a dedication of a Library he founded our former President George W. Bush said, “I dedicate this library with an unshakable faith in the future of our country. It was the honor of a lifetime to lead a country as brave and as noble as the United States. Whatever challenges come before us, I will always believe our nation’s best days lie ahead.” Did he really say this? Unshakeable faith in the future of our country, a country as brave and noble, and our nation’s best days lie ahead? Please understand I am not trying to write a political devotion, but if our leaders are promising false futures for our young people then how will they feel when instead of our best days we get failure? Most people I talk to, Christian or unbeliever feel our country is on the verge of crumbling.
Our country has been on a downward spiral for many years now. God is no longer welcomed in our schools, our government, casual conversation, and in the media. We have embraced abortion, homosexuality, vulgarness, sexual immorality, anger, and the list could go on. This is no longer a moral country and I cannot see how in the world our leaders in this country could honestly believe our best days are ahead. We need a revival in this land, but it will not be anything generated by us. It will be ignited by Holy Spirit and it will be led by Holy Spirit. It will not be something conjured up by man that he can take credit for. No matter what our political leaders may say I believe our nation’s darkest days are ahead. We are seeing a godless generation starting to take power in this country. How can a godless generation run a country founded on God?
If you are like me I can look around as Ezekiel did and see his country lying there as a valley of dry bones. It is easy to see people doing whatever they want because they have lost hope. Their bones are dry and their soul feels like a dry valley so they search any pleasure that comes their way to find hope or water for their dead bones. No matter the state our nation is in our God is still on his throne and he is in control just as much today as he was at creation. We have a hope! Oh the King is coming! Jesus is coming soon and just as the dead bones in the valley were raised and life was given to them one day soon the dead in Christ shall rise. What a glorious day that will be.
