God Remembers

In Genesis we read, “God remembered Noah”  “God remembered Abraham”  “God remembered Rachel.”  Why did God particularly remember these persons?  They were His chosen believers for Him to perform special works through them.  Today God remembers Christians and works in their lives.

We may not always feel that God remembers us.  The great King David asked God, “How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord, how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?”  Psalms 13:1. Things weren’t going well and David desperately needed God’s attention.  It seemed he had been forgotten by God.  Christians will experience that feeling.  We know God remembered King David and He will remember us no matter our feelings.

Wanting to be remembered was the wish of the thief on a cross next to Christ.  “…Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”  Luke 23:42. In his dying moments the thief had believed in Christ and knew His kingdom was coming.  Did Jesus remember the repentant thief?  Yes.  Jesus took him to be with Him in paradise that day and he has been with Jesus ever since.  God remembers and Jesus remembers.

Is it possible that God could and would forget (neglect) Christians at any time?  Definitely not!  God said to Israel, “Can a woman forget her sucking child, …yea, they may forget, yet I will not forget thee.”  Isaiah 49:15. God has said to Christians, “…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”  Hebrews 13:5. I believe that translates into the truth that God never forgets a Christian even for a moment.  GOD REMEMBERS.

Paul made particular mention of something about Christians that God does not forget.  “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”  Hebrews 6:10. Anything we do in ministering to the saints, and there are many, makes us Christ like and  GOD REMEMBERS.

There is one momentous occasion forthcoming when we’ll be glad for God’s remembrance of us.  “… And they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect…”  Matthew 24:30-31. That is Jesus’ description of the Rapture.

Imagine if you can, standing and waiting for an angel to pick you up to take you to meet Jesus and it doesn’t happen.  You are forgotten and left behind.  Not only is it unthinkable it is impossible.  God, Jesus and the holy angels WILL REMEMBER YOU!

DEAR LORD, HELP US NEVER TO FORGET THAT YOU ALWAYS REMEMBER US.
