It isn’t something to fear. YOU can do it. Actually, you are doing it even when you are not aware of that fact. The 1828 Webster dictionary defines it this way :
Noun: One who is cognizant; a person who beholds, or otherwise has personal knowledge of, anything; as an eyewitness; an earwitness. To see or know by personal presence; to have direct cognizance of.
Verb:Â To attest; to give testimony to; to testify to something.
To bear testimony. To give evidence.
As soon as you surrender to Jesus; you receive the Holy Spirit and automatically you become a witness. You witness with your actions, with the way you live your life as a Christian. You don’t have to be a preacher or a great orator or a renowned Bible scholar.  When you live your life as a true follower of Jesus, you attest to His presence in your life. You are a witness.
It has been said that you may be the only Bible that some people will read. People are watching you. They are looking for evidence of Christ in you.  Even if you don’t say a word, your actions speak loudly to those who are looking at you.
It is a big responsibility to be a representative of Jesus Christ. My mother used to tell me to not go anyplace where I would not want Jesus to see me. He is present with us in the person of the Holy Spirit. We give testimony (witness) for Him in everything that we do and say. Are you a good witness for your Lord and Savior? We need to strive to be good ambassadors for Christ.
Let the Beauty of Jesus be seen in me
All His wonderful passion and purity
Oh, Thou Spirit divine, all my nature refine
Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me. (Children’s chorus)
