Matthew 18:2-3: “And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Witnessing should be a natural, automatic action of a Christian. We have the most wonderful gift that has ever been given: ETERNAL LIFE! We did nothing to earn this gift. We simply reach out to Jesus in repentance and ask Him for His entrance into our life. We acknowledge Him as our Lord, Master and Savior.
In light of this gift, how should we respond? Just the way we instruct our children to respond to a gift. We express our thanks. There is no way that we can repay Him for such a gift; however, we can thank Him through our service. And just like with our children, we can learn to share.
Have you ever enjoyed a product or an experience so much that you want to share that with friends? I have! When I find a new cleaning product or a new way of doing something, I tell my family and friends about how great it is. Fuddrucker’s is my favorite restaurant and I think that everyone that knows me is aware of that! And, most everyone knows that blue is my favorite color. When I read a good book, I tell others about it.
Why, then, don’t I eagerly and naturally tell everyone about my wonderful Savior and His gift of eternal life? When our second son first accepted Jesus into his heart, he was the most eager, enthusiastic witness that I have ever known. He told everyone he met that they needed Jesus in their heart! He didn’t worry about rejection, or having the right words, or offending people. He only knew that he was saved from hell and he wanted everybody else to be saved.
I think that this is what Jesus was talking about in today’s Scripture. We must become like little children in our eagerness to tell about Jesus. The most important thing about witnessing is that we just “Go Tell”! What has Jesus done for you? Tell somebody today about your wonderful Lord, Jesus Christ!
FREELY, FREELY, YOU HAVE RECEIVED;
FREELY, FREELY GIVE.
GO IN MY NAME AND BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE,
OTHERS WILL KNOW THAT I LIVE.”
