August 4

The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts. (Proverbs 18:8 NIV)

We all know gossip is a deplorable practice, but few appear to understand how lending an ear to it subjects us to perpetual prejudice. Those victimized by the gossiping tongue may be permanently tainted in the eyes of those who lend their ear to gossip. We’ll simply never be able to forget what we’ve heard, even if what we’ve heard is false and malicious. Therefore, it is always best to shut the mouth of a gossip before they can serve up some of their tasty morsels; otherwise, we’ll never be delivered from what we’ve digested.
