This is my dear old dad’s favorite proverb:

Proverbs 6:6

King James Version (KJV)

6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Here’s my commentary on it.

This was not only my dear old dad’s favorite proverb, but I believe it was also his favorite verse in the whole Bible; at least it was the verse my brother and I most often heard him quote. I must have heard this verse a million times growing up. To my father laziness was an unpardonable sin and work was a cure for everything. No matter how sick you were, my dad’s prescription was always the same: “Go to work and sweat the poison out of your system.” I was a grown man before I learned that Labor Day was not the day you were supposed to labor on more than any other day of the year. Well, this proverb is for my dad. I’m sure he’s smiling from heaven.
